Netherlands Gambling Authority publishes annual report and enforcement agenda
The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has published its annual report, as well as its enforcement agenda for the coming year.
Despite the fact that the Dutch regulator issued a record amount of fines in 2019, totaling €3.5m, KSA chairman René Jansen said that fines alone would not be enough to stop unlicensed operators.
Jansen: 'The ban on online gambling can hardly be enforced any longer, as there are already an estimated one million Dutch players gambling online. Consumer demand is there and will not disappear.'
The Netherlands Gambling Authority also published its enforcement agenda 2020. In the coming year, the regulator will focus on preventing minors from participating in games of chance, take measures to prevent gambling addiction, and curbing (the visibility of) illegal gambling offerings.
